1️⃣ Strong Foundational Skills (Not Advanced Content)

LANTITE doesn’t test high-level university maths or English. It tests core, everyday literacy and numeracy skills at a solid adult standard.

Numeracy focus areas:

  • Percentages, ratios, fractions
  • Interpreting graphs and tables
  • Basic algebra and formulas
  • Measurement and unit conversions
  • Multi-step word problems

Literacy focus areas:

  • Reading comprehension
  • Identifying tone and purpose
  • Grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Structuring clear written responses

👉 Students often lose marks on fundamentals — not difficulty.

2️⃣ Confidence With Word Problems

Many candidates struggle not with maths itself, but with:

  • Extracting relevant information
  • Ignoring distractors
  • Translating real-world scenarios into calculations

Being comfortable breaking down questions step-by-step is critical.

3️⃣ Time Management

Each test is timed. Passing students:

  • Don’t get stuck on one question
  • Flag difficult questions and return later
  • Pace themselves from the beginning

Practising under timed conditions makes a big difference.

4️⃣ Familiarity With Question Style

Success improves dramatically when students:

  • Practise in exam-style formats
  • Understand multiple-choice traps
  • Know how short-answer responses are marked

Many students know the content but struggle with the format.

5️⃣ Consistent Practice (Not Cramming)

Short, regular practice sessions are more effective than last-minute revision.
Building skill and speed over time reduces anxiety and improves accuracy.

6️⃣ Managing Test Anxiety

Confidence matters. Students who:

  • Practise regularly
  • Simulate test conditions
  • Review mistakes strategically

…perform significantly better.
